Steve Ward
I am 62 years old and have lived
in Ramsgate for the last 15 years.
I am involved in the following organisations; Dumpton
Park & Eastcliff Residents' Association, Local Action
21,
Montefiore Action Project and Thanet Voluntary
Community Sector Forum, each of which bring benefits to the
local community. I am also the Town Mayor of Ramsgate.
I have worked as a manager in a multinational
company, and am a long-standing member of the trade union
movement.
There are, I believe, several things that are
required to happen to enable Ramsgate to prosper. Top of
the list of these is a better, integrated transport
infrastructure. To enable people to visit Thanet we need
better roads, a faster and safer rail service, improved and
more frequent ferry services and better use of Kent International
airport.
Improvements in all of these areas will encourage
more companies to invest in Thanet, which will provide
greater employment opportunities and increase the
prosperity of the area.
The development of Thanet must go ahead, but this
needs to be done while still looking after the local
residents, the environment and maintaining our tourist
industry.
