Albion Gardens, along with Wellington
Crescent have long been the most distinctive features
on the Eastcliff. For a long time it has been our
ambition to restore the gardens to something like there
past glory, and most importantly get the waterfall
working again.
A major grant from the lottery heritage fund,
together with European and regeneration money has now
allowed TDC to start the considerable amount of work
required.
The first phase has concentrated upon the gardens
themselves, their walls and footpaths together with the
waterfall.
Future phases will extend the work to the
Pulmanite rockwork and to some of the shrubs and trees
within the rocks.
Depending on funding, it may be possible to
include decorative feature lighting in the scheme.

on what is being done.
Kent steps are an important
and historic linkage between the beach and Albion
Gardens. The Albion Gardens project mentioned
above included money for the restoration of the
steps and incidentally, a small amount for the
Eastcliff Bandstand.
Residents who have yet to see the results are
invited to take a look. Not only have the steps been
restored, and the railings replaced, but also the alley
has been retiled with varieties of brick. Everyone
seems very pleased with the results. Discussions
continue over what is best for the Bandstand area.
Any opinions gratefully received.
